Presented: May 29, 2024 | Sarah Jump

We are grateful for this opportunity to dive into such a huge and important topic on your behalf. We hope that it has been a journey that builds towards a future that is building the Kingdom of God. We hope that this process is fruitful for you as you carry the weight and burden of guiding AGWM.

Here are a couple of pieces to help round out the body of work that we did. It will give you some context and some further thoughts on this important topic.

RESOURCES

Erik Cooper graciously wrote a short piece to express the value of welcoming in Gen Z and the large paradigm shift that this will take specifically for AGWM. They love our organization and have had long interactions with us, so they give a wonderful personal and professional perspective.

Keeping Gen Z Engaged with AGWM

We have a quick infographic that will give you a taste of our conversations with 15 GLT members across all of AGWM. They engaged with our AIP team phenomenally and gave us incredible insights. We try to capture a snapshot of these discussions for you to ponder.

Podcast on Heart Posture of Leaders Impacting the Next Generation

Carey Nieuwhof and Jon Tyson sit down for a long-form podcast on generational differences in the church setting. This podcast is vital to this discussion. You may start it looking for answers on what to do right or differently, and think that we missed the mark on recommending this. This podcast hits much closer to the heart of who should we as elders, as leaders should be for Gen Z. They dive into talking about the inner lives of leaders and give us a rich session unpacking the types of leaders and elder statesmen that will have a lasting impact on this generation. If you want to be a godly person in this moment, this one is worth contemplating.

We would be remiss to not simply include the article that summarizes our mandate from 1914. It is such a great reminder that who we decided to be happened in a real-life, gritty moment of our history. We can take up that mantal and wear it comfortably even in this gritty moment of world and church history. We can do this, if we will.

1914 AGWM Mandate

Jacob Jester (Africa) and Mark Good (Europe) sit down together to talk about the urgency and reality of the changes that need to happen for AGWM to become relevant for Gen Z. They are both well informed and have spent considerable amount of time and energy learning this field. They are us, and from a place of love and commitment, give their professional insights into this topic.

We also want to give you the graphics of this presentation to continue to ponder. May God give us all insights, vision and courage for the future!
